Once a surgery process that injected lips with implants or fat, today’s augmentation procedure uses an injectable dermal filler. There are many types of dermal fillers that can be injected in your lips and around your mouth. But the most common fillers today are products that contain substances similar to hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is a natural substance found in the body. It helps increase volume in your lips.
Dermal fillers, called “hyaluronic acid fillers” are safer and the effects last longer than fat injections and implants which also come with greater risk of side effects.

The effects of dermal fillers typically last around six months. After that more injections are needed to keep the volume of your lips. There are several hyaluronic acid fillers on the market. The most commonly used (Restylane, Restylane-L, Restylane Silk, Juvederm Ultra, Juvederm Volumna XC, Juvederm Ultra Plus, Juvederm 30, Juvederm 30HV, and Belotero) are offered at Premier MediSpa by trained nurses and overseen by our medical director, Dr. Gregory Bland. All of these products are injected the same way and give you similar results.
Once injected, the gel in the filler supports and shapes the tissues of the lips for more volume. At Premier MediSpa, we prefer these fillers because the amount of substance injected can be controlled, so our nurses have better control over how much lip volume is created. We use a gradual pace of treatment. This allows the injections to be given gradually during different appointments until the desired results are achieved. This gradual treatment allows us to have a smoother, more natural lip with less bruising and swelling.
