You may ask, “How does Botox® work?” By decreasing the activity of the underlying muscles that cause frown lines, Botox® indirectly produces smoother skin with diminished wrinkles and furrows. It can also be strategically placed to result in aesthetic repositioning of facial features such as brow elevation or elimination of a “Gummy” smile. Because of its unique properties Botox® can be used in combination with skin care products, soft tissue fillers, and Elos, amongst others to produce quite dramatic and natural results.
A non surgical, temporary procedure, BOTOX® Cosmetic targets one of the underlying causes of frown lines and crow’s feet—the repeated muscle contractions from frowning and squinting over the years. Your provider will inject these muscles with BOTOX® Cosmetic to temporarily reduce muscle activity. The procedure typically takes about 10 minutes and you will begin to notice a visible smoothing of your crow’s feet lines and frown lines between your brows withing 24 – 48 hours with results lasting up to 4 months.
One of the most common misconceptions is that you’ll look like you’ve had work done and loose facial expression. BOTOX® Cosmetic is a technique-sensitive treatment. You should not lose the ability to show expression when you are treated by someone who is licensed, trained, and a medical expert in facial anatomy.
